Get Involved
There are so many ways to get involved at Temple Ahavat Achim!
Read Torah, deliver a challah to a new member, become a study buddy for a Religious School kid, host a Shabbat Shalom dinner, join the choir or Alle Brider Band, cook a meal for the Open Door, help construct our congregational sukkah or lobster trap menorah (the only one in the world!), carry pizzas for Shabbat on the Beach, help the cemetery committee do one last mitzvah for members who have passed.
Make a commitment for an hour or a year. Create a new event, start a new tradition. Make it meaningful, make it educational, make it social, make it fun. Make it yours.
The best way to stay on top of what's going on is to receive our weekly newsletter.
Here are some of the groups, activities and committees that are always welcoming new participants, energy, and ideas:
ALLE BRIDER BAND
Plays klezmer and other genres at services and events.
CHOIR
Performs at services and events, often with the band.
ARTISTS ON THE BALCONY
A forum for guest writers, artists, and craftspeople to present their work.
BOOK CLUB
Reads and discusses new and classic works.
CHESED
Offers care and support to members in need through visits, phone calls, meals, rides to medical appointments, and the like. See our Repairing the World page for information.
IN STITCHES
All needle crafters - beginner to advanced - are welcome to make art, friends and community. We enjoy knitting, crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint, and more.
IVRIT CHAVERIM (HEBREW FRIENDS)
A unique program that pairs our 4th-7th grade students with older members of our community. Together, these intergenerational pairs study Hebrew, while building close bonds. Contact our Director of Family Learning, Alex Marques, by email, or phone: 978.281.0739 x12.
KITCHEN TEAM
Provides meals and treats at many services and events. Choose when, how often, and the amount of time spent helping in the kitchen. Please consider joining our team!
MT. JACOB CEMETERY TEAM
Members lovingly assist in chesed shel emet, the final mitzvah of laying fellow community members to rest. Because this mitzvah necessarily must be performed on short notice, we need a large reserve of potential helpers who can assist on any given day. Qualifications include having a relatively flexible schedule and being minimally able-bodied.
PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE
Provides our community with opportunities to be together for events both meaningful and fun. We welcome new ideas and new energy!
SHABBAT AND HOLIDAYS
We are always looking for congregants to lead parts of our services, and read Torah or Haftarah. You can also take a role in our Purim Spiel, help build our sukkah and our famous Lobster Trap Menorah.
SHABBAT SHALOM DINNERS
Be a host or participant in one of our monthly dinners hosted at congregants' homes.
TIKKUN OLAM / SOCIAL JUSTICE
Prepare and serve delicious meals for the Open Door food pantry. Get involved with ECCO - an interfaith group that works to secure living wage jobs, increase affordable housing, and improve education and social opportunities for children at risk. Work with our youth on environmental projects. See our Repairing the World page for information.
Please contact our office by email or phone if you're interested in getting involved!
