לַכֹּל זְמָן וְעֵת לְכּל־חֵפֶץ תַּחַת הַשָּׁמָיִם

There is a time and season for everything under the sky.

-Kohelet 3:1

At TAA we mark life cycle events as a community. When families expand, we are here together to welcome new life. These new lives become part of our tapestry—as children participate in Family Shabbat, learn with their peers at our dynamic and creative religious school, and study with Rav Naomi toward B’nei Mitzvah. And when they reach the age of Mitzvot, we celebrate with joyful services, and kvell together afterward with a community kiddush lunch.

Likewise, we mourn the passing of members and their loved ones as a community. Our cemetery volunteers assist with all local funerals, including bearing the casket to its plot, and Rav Naomi accompanies grieving families with sensitivity and care. Our Chesed Committee assists in providing for families sitting shiva.

Mt. Jacob Cemetery in West Gloucester has been our congregational burial ground for over 100 years. It is quiet and secluded, in tune with its woodland setting. Plots are available for members and non-members.

Whatever moment in life you are marking—a baby-naming, a wedding, a loss, or something else—Rav Naomi would love to help you plan a creative, meaningful ritual to recognize your life cycle event.

Directions to Mt. Jacob Cemetery

Take Rte. 128 to Rte.133 (Exit 14). Drive west on Rte. 133 (toward Essex) for about .3 miles. Turn right onto Fernald St. (a dirt road.) After 100 yards, the paved cemetery parking lot will be on the right. The cemetery entrance is through the stone pillars at the end of the parking lot.
