Author Joan Leegants will join us to talk about her new book Displaced Person: Stories. "Set half in Israel and half in the States, the stories in this prize-winning collection explore the experience of exile, belonging, and what it means to call a place home.” Her book is the winner of the New American Fiction Prize. Her other books include Wherever You Go and An Hour in Paradise. Joan will speak about her new book and copies will be available for sale.

Artist and Musician Stephen Bates will join us to discuss Judaism and Spirituality; the intersection of music and art. "I inherited Judaism through my mother, and I embraced it from my clarinet teacher, Leon Russianoff” said Bates. The talk will include examples of his artistry and musicianship. Stephen played clarinet in the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington DC for thirty-six years. Stephen will combine showing his painting, The Promise to Noah with music and as he shares stores about his life.
